1

P.K. Subban, D

The Edmonton Racers take a surpise pick with the top spot even though they need help on the left wing and James van Riemsdyk is thought to be the top player available.

2

Logan Couture, C

The Piranhas have a dilemma in their first season in Providence. They need help up front but JvR may be available and hard to pass up. The team will also take a long look at Brendan Smith as they desperately need help on the blueline. Trading down could also be a possibility.

3

James van Riemsdyk, LW

The Nighthawks have had a storied history in the draft with many top picks. A real steal here if they get the power forward. Wayne Simmonds is another name on the Helsinki wantlist.

4

Wayne Simmonds, RW

The Phantoms need a winger at this spot Simmonds and Versteeg are the logical names.

5

Carl Hagelin, LW

The Kings have a tough decision to make with rookie GM Juuso Tamminen's first pick. Expect them to also consider Patric Hornqvist and Carl Gunnarsson.

6

Kris Versteeg, RW

Montreal needs help everywhere but between the pipes. Adding forward help is of the utmost importance.

7

Ryan McDonagh, D

GM Scanlon makes a return and makes a safe pick to bolster the Billings blueline.

8

Patric Hornqvist, RW

The Rams need to snap up a right winger to improve their depth.

9

Brandon Sutter, C

Ottawa may be better suited to take Patric Hornqvist if he is still here, as they need help on the wings.

10

Kevin Shattenkirk, D

The Blizzard already have stockpiled young talent and will be licking their chops at the though of adding Shattenkirk to their lineup.

11

Steve Mason, G

GM Ted Dallaire invigorates the fan base with a bit of a reach on Mason considering the presence of Jaroslav Halak on the roster. Also a potential landing spot for Brendan Smith.

12

David Desharnais, C

The Racers are one of the greatest beneficiaries of the leagues hiatus, going from the top pick in the lottery to a potential Drunks Cup contender.

13

Aaron Palushaj, RW

GM Rich will have his eye on finding a player who has slipped down the board with this player as his go-to.

14

Carl Gunnarsson, D

Houston has three first round picks and may try and trade up for a change. If so look for them to target Brandon Sutter.

15

Sergei Bobrovsky, G

The Icedogs hand may be forced as there is likely to be (barring someone trading up) a goaltender available at this spot capable of pushing Dubnyk for playing time. Mason is the ideal fit for the Icedogs but it may not work out that way.

16

Andrew MacDonald, D

Rams should be chosing best available by this time in the draft.

17

Matt Read, RW

Denver may consider a goaltender at this spot if either Mason or Bobrovsky remain.

18

T.J. Galiardi, LW

Phantoms also have fourth overall pick so this slot could be used as trade bait.

19

Jonathan Blum, D

The Vipers would make good if they chose the underrated defenseman here.

20

Jake Muzzin, D

The Spartans will make a solid pick here, also considering Alec Martinez and the winger Condra.

21

Nathan Gerbe, RW

Gerbe offers a scoring punch in a small package.

22

Anders Lindback, G

Josh Gomillion is in desperate need of a goalie though it appears there are only three stoppers with first round potential.

23

Brendan Smith, D

Ottawa also has three first rounders and may get crafty with their options. This is the most likely pick they would part with.

24

Erik Condra, RW

Winnipeg needs help on the right side and should be looking to move up the order as well.

25

Mikael Backlund, C

GM Osterloh is in a tremendous position with an already talented roster has the luxury of trading out or adding a player once thought to be the top european skater available in this draft.

26

Dwight King, LW

Galaxy add depth and grit to their lineup.

27

Mathieu Perrault, C

With three picks in the round Houston can afford to draft by best available instead of need.

28

Nick Spaling, LW

Ottawa stockpiled picks and now must make those count.

29

Yannick Weber, D

Hockin has many needs, too many to trade picks, expect a defenseman in this slot.

30

Brandon Bollig, RW

There is always a GM who makes a bold reach in the waning picks of the first round.
