As the first season under the CBA winds down the DWSHL is learning more and more about the ramifications of its new agreement. From the early season cuts, to the fairly quiet trade deadline, and with the big names appearing on the waiver wire, this season has brought forth a needed change and increased excitement to the league. Monday night, we saw for the second time a high priced, high aged goalie waived in a club’s attempt to ease its financial strain. Roman Turek, a 2006 Drunks Cup winner has been waived by the Jacksonville Prowlers in an attempt to clear salary cap space. Unlike Olaf Kolzig, who was waived a week ago, Turek is a possibility to land somewhere else as his contract is far more manageable than Kolzig’s.
